Thank you for the very kind words, David but the thanks goes to all the young men and women here in theater with me. I usually do not engage in conversation about my career, Ben can atest to that. I know I have been blessed during my life with many important lessons I have learned. I wrote a short story that may help explain and please feel free to pass it along:

The Red Flower

A long time ago in a far away land, there was a Majestic Warrior. He was well versed in his religion, philosophy of life, a great practitioner and always practiced five things under all circumstances that constitute perfect virtue; these five things were Gravity, Generosity of Soul, Sincerity, Earnestness and Kindness. He was so well loved and also very well respected by everyone; he was also so feared by his adversaries because he never lost a battle in combat. He was well mannered; spoke eloquently and always treated everyone with the utmost dignity and respect. One bright and sunny day, he was riding his horse when all of a sudden he came across a dead corps from the previous day’s battle. To pay respect to the fallen enemy he had killed, he did not want to trample on the corps, so he pulled the reins on his horse very hard, so hard he inadvertently fell off the horse. The Majestic Warrior went over the side of the cliff but with his lightening quick reflexes he was able to grasp a single root stemming from the side of the cliff. The weight of his heavy armor challenged the strength of his tremendously strong body. From all the many years of strict discipline and the intense training sessions he endured, he could remain and rest in this position for hours. He had to think of a way to escape this ill fate he was faced with. Remaining very calm, he was able to see the many jagged rocks a thousand yards below him along with his certain death. At that moment he noticed the root he was clinging on to was slowly coming out of its resting place where it had been firmly attached for many hundreds of years. As the root was about to pull away from the cliff, the Majestic Warrior noticed a single Red Flower amongst a bunch of dead weeds around him. The Red Flower was the purest and prettiest he has ever seen in his entire life; the subtle wind blew the wonderful fragrance of the flower towards him. Without a care in the last minutes of his life, he closed his eyes and whispered, “Thank you, for I am the luckiest person in the world”.

David, I thank you and may prosperity always enlightened your path.

Thank you David, for those kind words.
As long as we keep enjoying our profession in the same manner we enjoy our social life, success is always assured.
Just like those early days in everyone's life back at Garfield, we all had the dreams and desires to become very successful in life. Many students of "Class of 1978" have achieved this status and in their own special way became very successful. We practiced five things under all curcumstances constitues perfect virture: These five things are Gravity, Generosity of soul, Sincerity, Earnestness and Kindness.
I apologize for not remembering some of the Fire Fighters here in theater. I have come acrossed many wonderful people throughout my many journies. I may have crossed paths with some of the brave civilians, both men and women that serves proudly who represents your profession in Fire Services. Thank you for what you do each and every day. Hello David,

Yes, Heather and I both ran track... amongst other things. Can't believe all the time that has gone by since those excellent days. And this new site has been really good to get back in touch with everyone from my Bulldogs day. Fire Chief!!! Wow. That is fantastic. I am sure you have some stories to tell. Heather is actually a State Patrol officer up in Bellingham now. I work in a Primary school here in our Village. I am a stones throw away from Windsor and not far from London either. I love village life - where everyone knows everyone and we all say hello. Hope this finds you well.

Hi David,
Doing well, Rick passed away a few years ago. It’s hard to believe 30 years have gone by. I have a family and live in Bothell, WA. My son is 15 years old and loves football and baseball; he has kept us very busy over the last 15 years. I look forward to seeing everyone. You still look the same.

I have a few gray hairs and wrinkles - believe me!! :-)
I wonder about some of our Horace Mann people and where they ended up. You are the only one I know still around.
How is your brother Michael??
