Profile Information

Relationship Status:
Married
About Me:
I'm living in Renton, where I'm quite busy as the Fire Chief and Emergency Services Administrator. My wife, Angela and I have been married almost 20 years and are looking forward to an empty nest this summer.

I have a BS in Fire Services Administration and Masters in Human Resources Management.

Since Garfield, I've spent all except three years in the fire and emergency services business. I was with the Seattle Fire Department until 2001, when I left as an Assistant Fire Chief to take a Fire Chief's position in Fulton County, Georgia. I started my current spot in August, 2006.
Favorite Teachers:
Sharon Masse (Health Sciences) - though I re-though my interest in Physical Therapy I didn't stray far now administering an element of the what for some is the gateway to the health care system. She helped me believe that I could actually be something more than a poor kid from the CD.

Bob Davis (Math) who helped me develop at my own pace and feel that I was good at one of the 3 Rs. He was also a pretty decent freshman and sophomore football coach. By the time we were seniors, we not only knew how to win; we expected to win, and most of the time, we did! (2x Metro Champs, woof, woof).

And of course, Dan Fredricksen (Computer Science) – who helped my budding interest in computers grow to actually serve me fairly well over the past few years. He also introduced me to the sport that changed my outlook on life; wrestling. It taught me how to compete and gave me a thirst for success that in some regards wasn't quenched until later in life, but "better late than never". From the kid that lost every match as a freshman to the team Captain. My first taste of leadership obviously stuck. Thanks Fred!

I hope any or all of them are out there somewhere and can make the reunion. Teaching is a tough job and (regardless to what people think about public education) thank God we were fortunate enough to have a number of very good ones. Though we’ve lost track of each other over the years, their work lives on and has in many ways been replicated in our children, those we supervise or otherwise have influence with.
Activities:
Back in the Day:
My favorite subjects were biology and health sciences. I wasn’t near as smart at my wrestling buddy Eric Bremner, but was scholar athlete.
One year of track, (it looks like my son got the foot speed, because I sure didn’t' have it then). Football (#67) - three letters, two Metro Title teams. Wrestling - (four weight classes) - four letters, two metro finals, Captain and State qualifier in both collegiate and freestyle. 5th in the World Police and Fire Games a few years after GHS.
Today:
I've been to every state in the U.S. except Rhode Island, Vermont and North Dakota. I enjoy time with my bride, pro football, gadgets of all shapes and sizes, teaching and lecturing in my spare time.

Thank you for the very kind words, David but the thanks goes to all the young men and women here in theater with me. I usually do not engage in conversation about my career, Ben can atest to that. I know I have been blessed during my life with many important lessons I have learned. I wrote a short story that may help explain and please feel free to pass it along:

The Red Flower

A long time ago in a far away land, there was a Majestic Warrior. He was well versed in his religion, philosophy of life, a great practitioner and always practiced five things under all circumstances that constitute perfect virtue; these five things were Gravity, Generosity of Soul, Sincerity, Earnestness and Kindness. He was so well loved and also very well respected by everyone; he was also so feared by his adversaries because he never lost a battle in combat. He was well mannered; spoke eloquently and always treated everyone with the utmost dignity and respect. One bright and sunny day, he was riding his horse when all of a sudden he came across a dead corps from the previous day’s battle. To pay respect to the fallen enemy he had killed, he did not want to trample on the corps, so he pulled the reins on his horse very hard, so hard he inadvertently fell off the horse. The Majestic Warrior went over the side of the cliff but with his lightening quick reflexes he was able to grasp a single root stemming from the side of the cliff. The weight of his heavy armor challenged the strength of his tremendously strong body. From all the many years of strict discipline and the intense training sessions he endured, he could remain and rest in this position for hours. He had to think of a way to escape this ill fate he was faced with. Remaining very calm, he was able to see the many jagged rocks a thousand yards below him along with his certain death. At that moment he noticed the root he was clinging on to was slowly coming out of its resting place where it had been firmly attached for many hundreds of years. As the root was about to pull away from the cliff, the Majestic Warrior noticed a single Red Flower amongst a bunch of dead weeds around him. The Red Flower was the purest and prettiest he has ever seen in his entire life; the subtle wind blew the wonderful fragrance of the flower towards him. Without a care in the last minutes of his life, he closed his eyes and whispered, “Thank you, for I am the luckiest person in the world”.

David, I thank you and may prosperity always enlightened your path.

Thank you David, for those kind words.
As long as we keep enjoying our profession in the same manner we enjoy our social life, success is always assured.
Just like those early days in everyone's life back at Garfield, we all had the dreams and desires to become very successful in life. Many students of "Class of 1978" have achieved this status and in their own special way became very successful. We practiced five things under all curcumstances constitues perfect virture: These five things are Gravity, Generosity of soul, Sincerity, Earnestness and Kindness.
I apologize for not remembering some of the Fire Fighters here in theater. I have come acrossed many wonderful people throughout my many journies. I may have crossed paths with some of the brave civilians, both men and women that serves proudly who represents your profession in Fire Services. Thank you for what you do each and every day. Hey,

No, I live in a village called Wraysbury... close to Windsor and Staines. Not too far from Heathrow and about 27 miles from the centre of London.
